Scarf cast on

We’re driving to visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I thought I had a good car project ready to go with my crochet shawl, but I had to change plans. The spouse is allergic to wool, and to make sure he’s not trapped in a car all day with a bunch of allergens, I had to find something else to work on. The hat I’m working on is also wool, so that’s out. My double knitting practice is acrylic but constantly reading a pattern is likely to make me car sick. So a new project it is!

This pattern is Irish Hiking Scarf. It’s my first attempt at cables. I cast on and got through one pattern repeat just so I know what I’m getting myself into. The repeat is easy enough that I shouldn’t have to look at the pattern much. The cables seem pretty simple too, hopefully they won’t be too fiddly to do in the car.

There probably won’t be any posts until I get home on Sunday. Hopefully I will have some photos from my travels to share when I get back. Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers (and happy rest of the week to everyone)!
