Pride Socks KAL prep

After waffling back and forth for a couple days I've finally selected my yarn for the Pride Socks KAL. My twitter poll suggested I pair my black rainbow yarn with black sparkle yarn. I admit this is what I was initially leaning toward myself. But as you can see, I ended up going with black... Continue Reading →

Hoar Frost Socks progress (2)

It's a bonus weekend post! Since progress on these is going to stop for a while, I wanted to show you where I am. I'm planning to set this project aside soon so I can get started on my Pride Socks right away on the 1st of June. I wanted to at least finish the... Continue Reading →

Dishcloth finished!

It's done! This is such a familiar knit, there's not too much else to say about it. The only reason it wasn't done sooner is because I've also been working on my socks. I find these dishcloths really handy so I always like making them. We tend to use them in place of hot pads... Continue Reading →

Hoar Frost Socks progress

I made a little progress on my newest socks. I'm still getting the hang of the mock cable, so it has been fairly slow going. It is very fiddly and I'm constantly paranoid I'm going to drop stitches. At least I am back to doing two-at-a-time again. I really liked my Diversion socks but it... Continue Reading →

Dishcloth progress

I spent most of my conference call knitting time working on this dishcloth today. This pattern is so familiar now. It makes it a very comforting knit. Although truthfully I just want to hurry and get it off the needles so I can focus on my Hoar Frost socks.

Two cast-ons

After finishing my Ripple Bralette over the holiday, I decided to cast on something else right away. I wanted to make sure I'd have something to keep me busy today during conference calls. The yarn I'm using for this dishcloth is reclaimed from a frogged project. Several years ago when I was re-learning crochet I... Continue Reading →

Ripple Bralette finished!

My Ripple Bralette is all done!! It fits great and I love it so much! I really like how it ended up showing off everything this yarn could do. It flashes around the bottom, pools through the whole body, gets very busy and variegated near the top, and then stripes on the shoulder straps. You... Continue Reading →

Ripple Bralette progress (7)

I'm almost ready to start binding off the back! I zoomed in on this photo so you can see the switch from 3x3 rib to 1x1 twisted rib at the top. It's exciting to think about what the colors might do once the shape of the pattern starts changing a lot. Hopefully it doesn't turn... Continue Reading →

Ripple Bralette progress (5)

More progress today. Should only take one more day to get as much body length as I can manage without running out of yarn later. I also learned a valuable lesson about trying on garments in progress. There's a reason why people suggest moving the project onto waste yarn to try it on. I tried... Continue Reading →

Ripple Bralette progress (4)

More ribbing done today. At this point I'm trying to walk the line between lengthening the body the way I want, and having enough yarn left to actually finish. It is already 1.5" longer than the pattern says, and I'm aiming for at least one more inch. I want to push it as far as... Continue Reading →

Ripple Bralette progress (3)

What a difference a few days can make! I worked on this while watching TV this weekend and now I'm only a few more inches from the end of the mindless 3x3 rib section. You can see my tension got slightly off near the top but otherwise the pooling has been really great. It will... Continue Reading →
