February 2021 Goals

The year got off to a rocky start but things seem to be looking a bit better every day. Plus I even met all of my goals for the month of January!

Completed in January:

Current WIPs:

  • Wingspan – knit
  • Ripple Lapghan – Tunisian crochet
  • Hexagon Blanket – crochet
  • Cozy Classic Raglan – knit
  • Tea Towel – knit

January Goals in review:

  • Swatch and cast on a sweater. Done! My Cozy Classic Raglan is well underway.
  • Make a hat. Done! In fact I made two! I especially love my Waffle Hat, and it’s become my go-to hat for those rare times I leave the house.
  • Use up some cotton yarn. Done! I finished a pan protector and worked on a new tea towel.

February Goals:

  • Purchase ZERO yarn. My yarn purchases have gotten a bit out of hand lately. I’m certainly buying much faster than I can use it up. If I want to meet my Big Goal of a net decrease of yarn for the year I really need to stop stress buying yarn.
  • Finish a set of feathers on my Wingspan. This poor WIP has been neglected for a while. I want to keep up momentum on my sweater, but I still want to keep some progress on this shawl too. I’m about halfway through a set of feathers at the moment and should be able to finish them if I just set some time aside for the task once or twice a week.
  • Draw or paint something. I’m leaving this wide open to any kind of physical or digital art. I just want to do something to start getting back in the habit.

2021 Big Goals Progress

  1. Knit a sweater. In progress.
  2. Complete a blanket. Two blankets are in progress.
  3. Either finish or get rid of any WIPs that carried over from last year. Fangorn Forest Socks are finished! My Wingspan, Ripple Lapghan, and Hex Blanket still remain as WIPs.
  4. Make a return to digital art. I’ve played around a little bit in Clip Studio Paint, but no major progress yet.
  5. End the year with less yarn than I started 2020 with (1495 g). Due to holiday shipping delays, a bunch of yarn I should have received in December ended up being delivered in January. Plus there were the aforementioned stress purchases, for a total of 680 g. In the outgoing category I have all of my finished objects, plus some hexagons and the full skeins I’ve used up already for my sweater. They add up to 815 g. That leaves me with a net 135 g less yarn than I started the year with. It’s a small start in the right direction.

January saw me finish a few little projects and then start tackling one of my major goals for the year. I’m curious how long it will take me to complete my sweater, and which big project will catch my fancy next.
